Letaba Networks and HR Professional Interventions Invite Unemployed Youth to Apply for the 2026 IT Learnership Programme

The growing rate of unemployment amongst youths in South Africa is alarming. South African youths need to understand the importance of opportunities that incorporate skills development and real-life work experience. In this context, Letaba Networks, in partnership with HR Professional Interventions (HRPI), is offering unemployed South African youths an opportunity to participate in the 12-month IT Learnership Programme starting in 2026.

This learnership is directed at young individuals with the ambition and determination to advance in the technology field. If you possess a Matric, a foundational knowledge of computers, and the willingness to learn, this program will provide you with an entry-point into the IT and telecommunications industry.

An IT Learner’s Journey

In contrast to numerous training programs that concentrate exclusively on theory, this IT learnership aims to assist students. Practical exposure in a work environment is obtainable. Participants will be positioned in busy call centre settings where Letaba Networks provides live internet and telecommunications services.

Learners will be trained and guided to become IT Support Technicians. This will provide them with the experience of working in a call centre with real customers. This role involves providing technical support to customers and responding to inquiries via call, email, and chat. They will learn to operate in a real environment with professional IT support teams.

The program offers training in the following areas:

  • Fundamentals of IT support
  • Basics of telecommunications
  • Customer service
  • Business communication
  • Networking
  • Technical troubleshooting
  • CRM system issue logging, tracking, and resolution

HR Professional Interventions (HRPI) is the workforce development and recruitment partner for this learnership. HRPI focuses on youth development and collaborates with other organizations for structured workplace learning across the country. HRPI’s primary focus is to ensure that learners receive training relevant to the industry and appropriate workplace support and guidance for the entire 12 months.

Letaba Networks and HRPI combine to create a structured learnership that integrates theory with authentic work experience.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the programme:

  • Grade 12 Certificate (Matric)
  • IT, CAT, or Computer Programming with 60 percent or above, or
  • Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy with 60 percent or above
  • Must be currently unemployed
  • Must be available for 12 months full-time
  • Must possess basic IT skills and computer proficiency.
  • Must have good English skills (both verbal and written)

Advantageous but not required:

  • Interest in IT, networking, or telecommunications
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to work shifts
  • Residence in Tzaneen or willingness to relocate

Even when applicants don’t meet every advantage criteria, they’re encouraged to apply if they meet all the minimum criteria.

Successful learners will gain the following:

  • monthly stipend which will be provided to learners during the duration of the programme
