Within the laundry unit, the Laundry Worker will have a critical support role for the hospital. Successful candidates will be responsible for handling, washing, drying, ironing, folding and distributing hospital linen and textiles, as well as hospital patient bedding and patient gowns. Hospital staff uniforms will also be part of the laundry worker’s tasks.
There are standards of cleanliness and infection control that must be maintained and honored as hospital laundry directly relates to the safety and comfort of patients.
Employees in the role of Laundry Worker will be expected to observe and follow hospital policies and to maintain the standards of hygiene and safety for the hospital. This position requires the ability to physically exert oneself as well as attention to detail, and the ability to work cohesively with a diverse group of individuals and to do so in a fast pace environment.

While duties may vary, a Laundry Worker can expect to:
- Follow hospital procedures to collect, sort, and separate dirty linen.
- Use washing machines, dryers, and ironing machines.
- Safely handle and manage potentially contaminated or infectious linen.
- Organize, pack, and distribute cleaned linen to various wards and departments.
- Keep the laundry area clean and organized.
- Inform supervisors about damaged linen or malfunctioning machines.
- Follow the standards and protocols of health, safety, and infection control.

โ Minimum Requirements
The following criteria have to be fulfilled in order for the candidate to be considered:
Minimum qualification: Grade 10
Candidates need to provide proof of their completion of grade 10 or an equivalent qualification from school.
CV
A comprehensive CV is required. Prior work in laundry, healthcare, hospitals, or hospitality is a plus, but not a requirement.
Valid South African ID
A certified copy of an ID is required.
Proof of Residence
A proof of residence that is less than 3 months old is required.
Candidates who do not provide all the required documentation will be disqualified.
